This sweet vintage inspired Frosty the Snowman is made of spun cotton.
Spun cotton is a traditional method, originating in 19th-century Germany, for making small toys and decorations. Thin layers of cotton are applied, adhering to the base with a glue mixture. After the piece was dried I hand-painted Frosty with acrylic paints.
He has chenille stems for arms and is holding a bottle brush tree.
He has a chenille stem for pipe. His scarf is made of chenille stem. I made his top hat from card board painted black and sprinkle of mica.
Frosty is tucked inside a very well loved and worn vintage paper mache candy container boot.
