This sweet candelabra - candles are hand-sculpted spun cotton.
Spun cotton is a traditional method, originating in 19th-century Germany, for making small toys and decorations. Thin layers of cotton are applied, adhering to the base with a glue mixture. After the piece was dried I hand-painted the candles and flames with gouache.
The candle's head and arms are vintage porcelain doll parts.
Lots of love, time and detail is this piece.
The candles are attached to an antique candelabra.
Measures: 12 inches from flame tip to base.
