Miss Molly Milligan
Sweet Molly sailed on a whaling ship, the Ann Alexander on Christmas day 1850.
Her face is hand-sculpted with needle and thread. She has blue glass eyes, red lips and freckles. Her hair is auburn placed in a single braid. She has antique porcelain hands.
She's wearing a white dress accented with blue rick rack trim. Her collar is made of vintage trim.
Under her dress are pantaloons made of same dress fabric and vintage lace. She has vintage lace leggings. She is wearing red Mary Jane shoes. Her hat is made of paper and is accented with a vintage gold, blue and red bullion star and ribbon. Hat is pinned to her head, and can be removed.
I made her tall ship out of driftwood, wire and cardstock. It is tied around her with gold thread.
I also made her a spun cotton snowman. Spun cotton technique is a 19th-century German craft for creating three-dimensional shapes by molding a dense, cellulose-based cotton material.
Size of doll: 14 inches from head to toes.
